As a financial planner I’ve worked with dozens of people who have been listed in Chexsystem. I was even listed there myself at one time so I know just how easy it is to get into their system and how hard it is to get out.

Whether you’re in there because of your mistake or someone else’s, there’s no reason you have to live without a bank account. I’ve gathered a list of over 150 banks that don’t use Chex System when opening an account and below I’ve listed the two banks that I think are your best options for opening a new account.

First is the Second Chance Bank Account from NewBankAccount.net. If you apply with this bank you are GUARANTEED a new checking account. Another advantage is that you only have to apply to one place rather than going to bank after bank and getting a lot of hits on your credit report. This option is best if you’re starting over from scratch.

Second is ING Direct. ING is probably my favorite bank and I’ve been a customer with them for over 4 years. They have great service, great interest rates and are easy to work with. However, in order to open an account with ING you have to have an existing checking account. So this is only good if you’re looking for a good savings account or a checking account that pays interest.

The only drawback from both of the above is the fact that both only allow electronic banking. So, if you need to have paper checks in your hand I’d suggest visiting our list of non Chexsystem banks and finding one that will be convenient for you. Whatever you do, good luck to you.
